The pharmaceutical division of BIOIBERICA has granted Laboratorios Almirall a new license for the commercialization in the Spanish market of their glucosamine, the medicine against arthrosis that has been marketed since the year 2002 by BIOIBERICA Farma under the brand Cartisorb®.

This agreement reinforces the positioning of the chondrocyte protection therapy as the standard treatment for arthrosis.

In Spain, arthrosis affects almost seven million people. For these patients, the therapeutic landscape has experienced an important turn thanks to the introduction of chondrocite protectors: Chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulphate and hyaluronic acid.

Unlike traditional treatments, these medicines are used directly over the joint cartilage and they are much more secure, as they do not present the classical secondary effects of anti inflammatory (especially for the gastrointestinal functions), they do not interact with other medicines and their efficiency lasts for months after the end of the treatment.
For all these reasons, chondrocyte protection represents an important improvement in life quality for the patient and represents an important reduction in the costs that this disease/illness represents for our society. (These medicines do not require using gastric protectors and allow for resting periods because of its long lasting effects.)
