New Solvent Rectification Tower
October 1, 1998

BIOIBÉRICA just finished construction of a new solvent rectification tower in their Palafolls facilities

Rectification towers are facilities that recover solvents used in the manufacturing process by using a distillation system, and therefore there is no need to use new solvent each time; by recycling these products, we contribute actively to environmental protection.

Our factory already has two other rectification towers. However, the continued expansion of our production lines required an upgrade in our rectification ability. With the new facility, now we have double the rectification capacity.

The new tower has a system of bell plates in the lower part and a discontinuous upper part. They have also available control systems to prevent emission of steam outside of the factory; including security condensers refrigerated by ethylene-glycol at -10 C plus alarm and warning sensors that will detect any anomalies.

All this had been integrated in an automatic system allowing us to ensure control of the rectification process, and also guaranteeing the quality of the recycled solvent.
